Madrid luthier Teodoro Perez showed me how he makes rosettes when I visited his shop in Madrid. From 1971 until about 1990, he made all of the rosettes that came out of the Ramírez shop, so he may know more about this than anyone alive today. I’m a huge fan of his guitars, and you can check some of them out at the GSI Store. He’s also one of the nicest guys around, and he builds together with his son, while his daughter runs the business end of things and helps out in the shop, too.

And yes – I did manage to type ‘prufling’ instead of ‘purfling’ in the subtitles, so I’m just going to hope that it catches on.
