This week, we have an extra special Coming Soon installment for you in that it features a budding YouTube star… Maria Conde! Maria was recently profiled in a beautiful mini-doc from Bloomberg’s MADE series which showcases “craftspeople and their premium wares, all made the hard way.” There certainly is nothing easy about making a guitar, and we are thrilled to see Maria’s work receiving the recognition it deserves.

In its brief seven and a half minutes, the video (with almost 200K views) takes us through Maria’s overall process for building a guitar, all the way from picking out the woods to stringing up the final product. Maria also talks about the path that led her to build guitars and the significance of her being the first woman in the legendary Conde lineage to do so. Check it out below!

In addition to this wonderful feature on Maria, we also wanted to share the progress on one of her new guitars, coming our way very soon! Here are some photos of her attaching the back and adding the purfling. Look for this beautiful instrument to be hitting our website in the near future!

  1. I understand Ms. Conde makes Flamenco guitars but does she also make pure Spanish classical guitars? I understand there’s a difference. Thanks.

  2. Michael David Rubin says:

Maria Conde is inspiring, as craftswoman & devoted artist.
MY dear mother, bailarina, would be proud of Maria’s achievement.
Especially important in this short documentary is the unity of Flamenco: How to design & make the very “tool” that creates the music itself, a fine & authentic guitar – then, an actual performance, where the guitar & the other vital Flamenco instrument, the voice of the cantaor, are blended with a bailarina’s images, & classic sounds of the other performers, in a brief reminder of the transcendence of our real, eternal Flamenco puro.
