Julius Reder Carlson is a musicologist and guitarist who came in to shoot some videos a few months back and fortunately for us had a nice enough time that he decided to come back. Here he is playing his arrangement of the Diaz brothers’ ‘La Amorosa’ on a 1999 Antonio Marin Montero maple guitar, and ‘La Cumparsita’ on a 2010 Christoph Sembdner.

You can see Julius talking about Brahms at the Les Salons Des Musiques chamber music series at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on October 16th at 4pm. (if you’re not from L.A. – the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is kind of a big deal). See the website for details.

Wow, this guy is really good! Please invite him back to play some more. Something about the way he plays really give me a feel for the sound of each guitar (plus, I think your recordings have gotten better).
