Join us this Saturday, May 23 at 12PM CST (10AM PST) for the 2nd Lead Guitar Virtual Showcase hosted by the GSI Foundation and Córdoba Guitars. See ZACH FILKINS from OneRepublic performing their hit song “Counting Stars” together with Lead Guitar students and players from around the world.

The 2nd Lead Guitar Virtual Showcase will feature an interview with Zach Filkins, a Q&A session and other virtual performances of music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Bob Marley. Stay tuned and watch this performance through the YouTube LIVE Premiere on our GSI channel. You’ll be able to participate in a LIVE YouTube chat with Denis Azabagić and Brad Richter from Lead Guitar.

“Counting Stars” is a world-wide known hit song. Currently, it has almost 3 BILLION views(!) on YouTube. Zach Filkins is a guitarist who many children look up to! Therefore, we’re very glad we were able to provide this opportunity for Lead Guitar students and guitar players from around the world to perform together with their idol.

To make both editions of the Lead Guitar Virtual Showcase possible during these difficult times, the GSI Foundation has donated over 50 Cordoba C-3 guitars to children in the Chicago area. These children had been home for several weeks without an instrument to practice on during the school shutdown. Our mission is to provide music education in public schools which need help to fund their music programs. We believe that every child deserves to experience playing music growing up. Nowadays, music education is especially at risk, since many schools operate remotely and the economy is very unstable. Our programs have adapted quickly and operate fully online, but they rely on the funding from the GSI Foundation. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Help us to keep music alive. Here is how:

We raise funds by selling guitars that are donated to the GSI Foundation. If you wish to donate a guitar, please contact us! We’ll assist you with shipping. The guitar will be sold through GSI and all proceeds will go directly to our foundation. Of course, you’ll also get a tax-deductible donation letter.

Would you like to contribute but don’t have a guitar you wish to donate at the moment? We also accept online donations through PayPal or simple traditional checks. Every amount matters. Don’t forget to check our website regularly for updates from the music programs supported by the GSI Foundation.
