We’ve received new sneak peek photos of Francisco Muñoz Alba’s newest guitar. This is going to be the second instrument sent to GSI directly from Francisco’s workshop and the third in general if we count the 2008 Francisco Munoz Alba SP/CY (ex Grisha Goryachev) guitar that was featured in our inventory.

Francisco was born in the Albaicin in Granada and has learned from some of the greatest Granada builders, including Francisco Manuel Diaz, Victor Diaz, Rafael Moreno and Antonio Marin Montero. Over the years, Francisco has built up his skills to such a high level that he was awarded FIRST prize in the 2nd International “Antonio Marin Montero” Guitar Building Competition held in Granada, Spain.

The design of this model is quite eye-catching with its virtuosic and precise detailing, especially visible in the graceful curves present in the inlay and the bridge shape. The broken purfling at the edges of the mosaic area in the rosette are matched in the tie-block and inner top purflings, giving this guitar a unified aesthetic. Franscisco’s previous GSI guitar had bold and firm basses with crisp and clear trebles. Overall the sound was powerful and balanced across all registers, so we’re looking forward to having this new guitar featured in our store very soon
