So here’s my little semi-guided tour of the Ramírez workshop in Madrid. This is where all of the high-end Ramírez guitars are made and repaired. It’s not attached to the store downtown – it’s a few metro stops away from there. You’ll have to forgive my shaky hand-held camera work.

Thanks for the tour. I was in Madrid two years ago and tried to get a tour but couldn’t get it coordinated in time before we left for Granada.

One recommendation. Next time you video, pan slower. 🙂

Yes, lesson learned (a bit late) about the panning. If we all complain enough maybe they’ll send me back to re-shoot!

  3. It’s nice to see that after all these years they are still making their high-end guitars by hand. Unfortunately, the guitar cases are terrible. I have a 1969 Ramirez 1A and the standard guitar case that Ramirez supplies with the purchase of a guitar is sub-standard for such a high-quality, hand-made guitar. It’s too bad they don’t include a decent case when you drop $10K on a guitar.

Rita – it used to drive me crazy that on a 10K guitar (or a 5k guitar which was the equivalent back in the day) some makers would use $10 machine heads – so much attention to detail in the workmanship of the guitar and then this weird little afterthought. But I figure as long as they’re not skimping on the guitar itself we’re ok…

Kai, you’re killing me guy! I want to be there. Sign me up for the next trip to the shop and I’ll hold the camera! When you get back to Boston I want to show you my new workshop. Maybe I’ll send you a video. Ha!

Great video. I have a 1A bought in 1966 and actually went to the original workshop in Madrid in 1970, my luck, it was a sunday and closed but still have the photograph of it.. Superb guitars.

Buy a hiscox case and problem solved.
