Pepe Romero Jr. came to GSI last week to drop off his 212th guitar, and JohnPaul took the opportunity to ask him to tell us a bit about the guitar and to play it for us. Check out the video to hear Pepe explain about doming and the thicker fretboard, and to hear him play his latest guitar.

The guitar, without question, is of high quality, however (and I hate “howevers”), the wood color of the sound board is sufficiently different from the light color of the back and sides that it appears as two different guitars.

  2. Sounds kind of springy but effective for a lively sound, and it seems that there is very little rosewood available from the old school of Miguel Rodriguez that we can replicate in his motif.

I wish Pepe would try and keep with the Rodriguez voicing as it has a certain melodrama and things that seem sacred to me.

However, I know Pepe’s heart to try and make his own guitar sound and I applaud that.

Beautiful sounding guitar and the design is unique but eye catching
