14-year-old Olivia Chiang came back to GSI to shoot some more videos for us, and it seems she’s been busy since we last saw her (check out her videos from last year here). She’s completed her exam for the Royal School of Music in London, performed the Vivaldi Lute Concerto with the Seraphim Symphony Orchestra, she was a finalist at the National Solo Competition of the American String Teachers Association and is currently preparing to compete in the 2014 GFA youth division!

Here she is playing Barrios’ ‘La Catedral’ on a 1986 Hermann Hauser III, Tarrega’s ‘Recuerdos de la Alhambra’ on a Kenneth Brogger “1864 Torres”, and a piece by her father James Chiang, ‘Dream With Me’, on a 1986 Dominique Field.

  6. Thank you all for the nice words, they are best encouragement to me. These three guitars are very comfortable to play. when I put my fingers on the guitar, I feel like getting more but working less harder and the sound is just amazing !! GSI’s website is very educational and informational when I read all the luthiers history and background. I can also see other great performers playing – I learn and enjoy. Thank you to all the GSI staff for having me and special thanks to Kai for the hard work. Best to you all.

    Sincerely, Olivia Chiang
