GFA winner Rovshan Mamedkuliev was in town on the penultimate leg of his GFA tour and found a little time before his flight to stop by and play some guitars. Here he is playing his own transcription of two miniatures by Fikret Amirov – Lyrical Dance and On Hunting – on a 1961 Ignacio Fleta.

That song had it all and the guitarist was perfect, What a nice sound on the guitar, cant imagine how nice that would sound as a live performance.

Great stuff. I met Rovshan when he was here in Cincinnati playing a concert at the Xavier Guitar Series. I also saw him at the GFA in Charleston, South Carolina in 2012 where he won the competition. He’s a fabulous guitarist and interpreter, with astonishing technique and classy presence, one of the best in the world in my opinion. And a genuine, nice guy. He has a very bright future ahead! Thank you for posting.

Very, very nice. The technique was flawless, the musicianship very much the same. But what made it most worthwhile was the smile at the end: a beautiful performance on a beautiful instrument. Bravo!
