A client gave us the idea to do some videos of some fantastic Simplicio guitars we have at the moment (it’s rare enough to have one, much less two, and from consecutive years!) alongside a 2010 John Weissenrieder ‘Simplicio’. It seemed very appropriate to play some Tarrega on these guitars, so Alex Park played Lagrima on the Weissenrieder and a 1929 Simplicio with a spruce top and CSA rosewood back and sides, and Recuerdos de la Alhambra on the Weissenrieder and a great 1928 Simplicio, also spruce but with satinwood back and sides (like the Weissenrieder).

We have a couple more videos of Alex Park, this time playing Parkening’s arrangement of Dowland’s My Lady Hunsdon’s Puffe on a 2006 Dake Traphagen and David Russell’s arrangement of Spatter the Dew on a new Kenny Hill ‘Signature’ in spruce and Indian rosewood.

Brothers Alex and Wesley Park are both are students of Christopher Parkening at Pepperdine – Alex just finished his undergrad degree and Wesley will be a Junior this Fall. They came in together to record some duos and we also recorded some classic solo pieces while they were here. Here’s Alex playing Albeniz’ Leyenda on a fantastic 1966 Ramirez ‘AM’ and Wesley playing Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from the Well Tempered Clavier on a 2006 Dake Traphagen ’35th Anniversary’ model.
