Manuel Espinás - La Catedral

Live Performances

manuel1

Manuel Espinás is a Cuban-born guitarist who is currently professor and chair of guitar studies in the School of Arts, BUAP and professor in UDLAP (Universidad de las Américas Puebla), both in Puebla, Mexico. He’s an old friend of luthier Federico Sheppard, so when he was in town last week we shot some videos of Manuel playing Federico’s guitars, which are both replicas of guitars that Barrios used to play. One is a replica of a ‘Morant‘ and the other of a 1934 Esteso (Sheppard is an authority on Barrios). Here’s Manuel playing Barrios’ ‘La Catedral’ on the Morant model.
