Yuri Liberzon plays Marin and Hill

Live Performances

Yuri Liberzon, a good friend of GSI and wonderful guitarist, recently stopped by the showroom to record a couple new videos for us. We always love Yuri’s performances and are still digging his videos from last year of Vassiliev and Piazzolla. This year, he’s brought a couple of pieces by two of our favorite composers and laid them down on some really spectacular guitars. First, you will hear J.S. Bach’s gorgeous Adagio from the Violin Sonata in C major on a 2014 Antonio Marin Montero. The bright, clear spruce and amazing sustain of this instrument makes this the ideal guitar for playing works such as this, especially in the hands of a great player like Yuri!

After the Bach, Yuri treats us to lovely arrangement of Piazzolla’s ‘Oblivion,’ created in part by himself. For this piece, Yuri plays a lovely 2018 Stephen Hill with a Spruce top and Cypress back and sides, once again disproving the notion that this SP/CY (or “spicy” as we call it) combination is only suitable for flamenco!
