Luis Fernandez de Cordoba Builds a New GSI Guitar From Wood Harvested In Alaska.

Coming Soon

Panamanian-born guitar maker from Washington, D.C., Luis Fernandez de Cordoba, is currently building a new guitar for GSI. Luis has been building guitars for over two decades, but since 2009 has exclusively been making classical and flamenco guitars. His methods are based on traditional Spanish construction, but with a slightly eclectic style.

Luis has shared with us some sneak peek photos. His newest guitar for GSI looks very interesting as the materials are quite unusual. It's a wenge/cedar classical guitar. The cedar top consists of three pieces that Luis harvested himself 12 years ago near the beautiful Bakewell Lake while living in Alaska. This is Luis' first guitar made from this type of wood.

His new guitar is nicknamed "Tricolor". Luis made unusual three-colored purfling with red, white and blue colors to honor the flags of both of his countries (the United States and Panama). Check out the photos below!
