2014 Sakurai P.C. Paris Comp 1st place Cedar Rosewood

Condition:Excellent
Category:Classical Guitars
Description
$5500 or best offer. This is a 2014 beautiful professional concert grade Sakurai PC Paris Competition winning model. This guitar model was awarded the gold medal at the International Guitar Making Competition in Paris, 1988.

This guitar has only had one owner...me. And it's in beautiful shape. A few minor repairs were done by Mr Sakurai in Japan. He reattached the bridge and repaired a small crack that is difficult to notice.. Please schedule an appointment to stop by to try it out

By the way, the PC model goes for above $9k new.

Luthier Mr Sakurai entered this model in the Paris competition guitar making and won first place gold If you sit in the audience and hear this guitar play it sounds heavenly..

I went to a Master class years ago and heard the professional guitarist teacher play on his concert grade guitar and then one of the young highschool age students in the class had a Sakurai PC guitar and when he played the sound was so open and wonderful compared to the Master class guitarist teacher who also had a concert grade guitar made by some other luthier. I forget at the moment what brand it was. I don't know and it's difficult to say but maybe he had really old strings at the time but the sound comparison to the Sakurai PC was very noticable, like day and night. The wonderful sound can be best experienced by an audience listener because it's design makes the sound project outward for an audience rather than just for the player of the guitar. Although it also sounds extremely sweet and powerful for the person playing it. This has been my experience at least.

Since Sakurai won the Paris Competition in 88, this model has been extremely popular due to its outstanding sound quality and warmth and excellent projection. The cedar top adds an extra layer of sweetness while still offering awesome sound projection. I personally prefer cedar tops over spruce because of the sweet wood tones it creates. . Not saying spruce is bad but it's just different and not my choice.

I am selling this due to carpal tunnel issues and the amount of time I have to play these days just doesn't justify a professional concert grade instrument. And I'm not some rich guy who can just buy whatever I want.. If I was wealthier I would definitely NOT sell this beautiful instrument.

Years ago when I first heard the Sakurai PC guitar model played in a Master class it was played by a young student guitarist I fell in love with it and it was one of my goals in life to get one. So I finally got one and I still love it and kind of don't want to sell it but I also have a pretty decent sounding Yamaha from the '80s which is sufficient for my current needs..

FYI, I also used to have a Ramirez 1A which I bought used. It's been a while since I heard the Ramirez played since I have since sold it but I am 99.99% sure the Sakurai PC has a much more open and beautiful projection sound due to the top highest quality wood and polish and especially the bracing design which helped win the gold award in Paris.

Note that the bridge was reattached by Mr Sakurai and it has an extremely small hairline crack close to the base of the neck and parallel to the neck. It was repaired by Mr Sakurai himself in Japan. (its now in almost new condition) I have paper work from Mr Sakurai when he did the repair on it. The repair work makes it like an almost brand new guitar and near new condition. Of course I have played it and if you get a microscope you might be able to find some extremely small nicks or scratches just a micrometer in depth on the top level of polish finish but you really have to look hard to see any scratches..

Mr Sakurai is getting up there in years and so not sure how much longer his P.C. models will be available as brand new.. I would expect the PC model to increase in value in the future and be a good investment especially if you treat it like a baby which I have always tried to do. ..

Note: photos are taken from my old motorola phone, so they don't do it justice. If wanted I can try to get some additional photos if you request with my wife's iPhone 11. In fact I probably will post some additional pictures soon.

If you live near by the Utah area you are more than welcome to stop by and try it out. Or even play it and make a recording to compare it against other guitars.

I only want to sell this to someone who is 100% satisfied with this instrument and who will treat it well and maintain its quality. I don't want the buyer to have any negatives feelings about his purchase. I only want a happy guitarist who owns an awesome professional concert guitar. It really is a masterpiece work of art.

I'd like to make a sound recording of it so you can hear the sound, but I have not played the last 3 or 4 years much and currently don't even have the finger nails for it .. And of course I don't have good recording microphone etc to do it justice. .
