ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Simon Dinnigan was born in Sheffield in 1968, and after displaying prodigious musical gifts from the outset, he gave his first public performance less than a year later at the age of nine. He then went on to study at Chetham's School of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he won the Principal's guitar prize. During his college years Simon was spotted by Jose Tomas, Spain's most respected professor of guitar and was subsequently invited to study with him in Alicante. After concluding his studies in Spain, Maestro Tomas commented: "Simon is the finest pupil I have ever had the good fortune to encounter". Simon has also studied in masterclasses with such legendary musicians as John Williams and Andres Segovia. Simon has a string of competition successes, awards and over two decades of concert experience to his credit. He has appeared on National TV and radio, in fact he is one of the very few classical guitarists to actually have a television program dedicated entirely to him. He has performed in Europe, USA, Central and South America and South East Asia. He has also performed concertos with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, Balearic Symphony, Rhienische Stadt Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, and even performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of El Salvador for a special concert for the United Nations. Simon made his New York debut in 1996 and was hailed as "a major guitarist of the 21st century". London appearances at the Wigmore Hall and South Centre followed in 1997 to the same critical acclaim. Although Simon made his first recording at just 12 years, it wasn't until 1995 that he made his first commercial debut recording, which was released on the P3 label in 2002. He went on to record an exciting new Double Concerto for Guitar, Electric Bass and String Orchestra by the esteemed British composer Andrew Downes. But his fame found new impetus with the release fo "Favorite Guitar Works" on the Classic FM/BMG Conifer label. Simon's CD was one of the best selling in the collection and can be heard frequently on Classic FM. Subsequent releases include a new collection of guitar works on the RCA Victor label that features Simon alongside Julian Bream and John Williams.

In 2002 Simon had a remarkable year; he performed his way through every County in England on a mammoth 44 date tour picking up some outstanding reviews, hailing him as "the natural successor of Julian Bream" and "a modern day virtuoso of demonic powers". During July 2002 a special one hour film of Simon's performances was broadcast on the Artsworld digital channel which in turn led to the release of this film. July also brought one of the highlights of his career, an invitation to perform at a private Jubilee party at Windsor Castle in the presence of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Simon continues to travel extensively throughout the world gaining new admirers wherever he performs.
