Description

The highly stylized guitars of Jeronimo Pena Fernandez are perhaps the most immediately identifiable for their bold design details and overall original style. His background in carpentry and furniture making was not lost in his lutherie, one needs only to see the ornate woodworking in the bridge and headstock. From time to time he was even known to carve his rosettes, although this example uses a traditional mosaic. Even the ebony inlay in the back of the neck has a carved design. His instruments are solidly built and although larger in size and scale than standard guitars, remarkably easy and enjoyable to play. The sound of this guitar is bold, thick and dark, bearing some similarities to cedar-topped Fleta guitars. Condition is excellent and original with only very minor signs of playing wear. A great example by one of the twentieth century's most unique builder.
