Description

This is one of the great Miguel Rodriguez guitars originally owned and used by Angel Romero for several of his classic EMI studio recordings, including "The Divine Giuliani" (solo works), Giuliani Concertos (with the English Chamber Orchestra) and the Claude Bolling "Concerto for Classic Guitar and Jazz Piano" with all-star lineup of George Shearing on piano, Ray Brown on bass and Shelley Manne on drums. The Romero family occasionally name their instruments and this is one that Angel lovingly called "La Reina Isabella". Indeed Angel also played live with this guitar - see below for an example of the Bolling piece played live with this guitar.

Even by Rodriguez standards, sound is huge, bold and rich. It also has excellent sustain and very fast response – all hallmarks of any superior Rodriguez of this caliber. Despite it being a longscale, it is very easy to play - Rodriguez instruments from this period are known for their elegantly shaped necks and very comfortable playability and this is a supreme example. Many years ago Yuris Zeltins repaired 1 hairline crack in the top (glue only). There are also 3 hairline back cracks, also expertly repaired, all of which are nearly invisible. This guitar is about as spectacular as it gets - one of the few Rodriguez hand-selected and used professionally by one of histories top players. Very desirable for every reason - its quality of sound, aesthetic beauty and provenance – collector and performer alike will find this to be an extremely exciting instrument to own and play.
