Dominique Field is internationally recognized as France's top builder in his generation and demand for his instruments is so extreme that his enormous wait-list was finally closed in August of 2006. This instrument, built in 1986, is an earlier example made with the Torres/Hauser "lobed" headstock design. The back shape and inlay work are suggestive of Friederich. Soundwise, this guitar has the magically unique sound that Field is praised for - it has the refinement of tone along the same lines of Bouchet and Hernandez y Aguado, two of Field's influences. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs and barely any playing wear. The aged top has already started to darken giving it the look of a much more vintage, antique piece. In our opinion, Field is simply one of the best makers in the world today. His instruments are currently being played by some of the world's leading concert artists including Eduardo Isaac, Vladimir Mikulka, Scott Tennant, Adam Holzman and Vicente Amigo, among others.
