Originally based out of Southern California, luthier Erez Perelman now lives and builds guitars in his home country of Israel. Born in Israel and raised among musicians, Perelman found his passion for guitar making while in living in California, after having studied guitar under Celin Romero in San Diego. He considers himself primarily self-taught, although he gives much credit to fellow west coast guitar maker Eugene Clark. He builds in a purely traditional Spanish style, and while living in San Diego, made frequents visits to GSI where he spent considerable time inspecting old instruments from our stock, including Santos Hernandez, Domingo Esteso, Torres, etc.
This is truly a remarkable old-fashioned flamenco guitar in every regard. It is extremely light and vibrant, and is incredibly responsive to even the lightest touch. Its tone is simultaneously raspy and aggressive, as well as lyrical and musical. Playability and action are wonderful, and the slightly more compact body size make this guitar almost play by itself. Uses "Planetary friction pegs" which have the appearance of the old-school wooden pegs but the easy "slip-free" advantage of normal machine heads. Simply a tremendous flamenco, especially for the price.
Paco de Lucia recently ordered one of these fine flamencos, for more details, click here.
