Description
We consider Jose Marin Plazuelo to be one of the finest, most consistent guitar makers in the world at anywhere near this price. His guitars have outstanding tonal qualities, are expertly made with great attention to detail and are just plain fun to play. They follow in the tradition of Santos and Barbero being very light and fairly small bodied. This flamenco "negra" is nearly identical to the guitars made by his well-known uncle, Antonio Marin Montero (they share a workshop together in Granada) and has the featherweight, punchy raspiness of the southern Spanish school. Tuning machines look old-school but they're "machined" so hold in place just like a set of regular tuning machines. Playability is a dream, craftsmanship and materials are superb. Although the guitar is still fairly new, it already has a nice, loose and very open quality to the sound. And it's also quite loud - this has a lot of volume, which is impressive for a new-ish guitar like this.Orfeo Magazine #8 - The Granada School
