This guitar was built in the famous Jose Ramirez workshop, which for over half a century has produced instruments performed on by countless professionals from Sting to Segovia, Chet Atkins to Sabicas and Lee Ritenour to Christopher Parkening.
This model is a re-issue of a José Ramírez I "Guitarra de Tablao" and is based on a template dated to 1913. The current design features slightly altered details of construction, adapting it to current playing preferences. The aesthetic details have also been slightly modified, in all cases in accordance with the trends of the time when it was originally developed. In addition to this being a flamenco, this model is also available as a classical.
This rosewood flamenco has an antique quality of sound to it, largely due to the flatter box depth and extra width in both bouts. It is absolutely charming to play, and has plenty of power for any concert setting. The detailing is beautifully and tastefully done, and the pegs are "machined" by Planetary for easy use, and traditional, old-school look. Ramirez offers options for wooden or clear plastic tap platem this one having clear plastic. Overall a stunner.
