Although Dieter Hopf has been building guitars professionally since 1968, his family tradition of instrument building goes back 13 generations to the 17th century. This long family history includes the construction of stringed instruments such as violins and later guitars, as well as woodwind instruments and even string manufacturing. This instrument, built in 1979 is Hopf's "Gran Concierto" model made with select materials (including CSA rosewood) and has an incredibly well-balanced character, with the clarity of a piano and excellent volume, making this a strong concert instrument. It has a beautiful traditional "teutonic" sound in the Hauser school, with a nice range of tonal colors and contrasts. It's in excellent condition with no cracks or repairs, only some minor wear in the finish. Several well-known guitarists who have played Dieter Hopf's guitars include Baden Powell, Alexandre Lagoya, and Michael Tröster just to name a few.
