2005 Diego Contesti CD/IN
|Back & Sides:
Diego Contesti was born in 1968 in San Cristobal City, province of Santa Fe, Argentina but in early childhood he moved with his family to the nation's capitol of Buenos Aires. At the age of 15 he began his musical studies (guitar, harmony and composition) with Professor Antonio Baez, who later initiated Diego into the craft of making instruments. He did his first steps, as apprentice, in the tuning, restoration and calibration of pianos. In 1993 Diego met Oscar Trezzini, an Argentine guitar maker who is currently living in Switzerland. Diego studied with him for close to three years. It was at this time that Contesti decided to devote his life to the art of lutherie, and he has been making guitars ever since.
We consider Diego Contesti to be the finest young luthier in Argentina today. His instruments have already won high esteem in the Argentine guitar scene and we are proud to be introducing his work in the US. The guitar has enormous power, and a penetrating, dark voice. Despite the great volume, the sound is not harsh, but rather has a creamy, and firm quality. Workmanship is meticulous, with very exact attention to details. We believe this to be a great value.
