Lorenzo Micheli was born in Milan in 1975. He graduated "cum laude" from the G. Tartini Conservatory, Trieste in 1996 and also studied with Frederic Zigante at the Foundation Mozart in Lausanne and Oscar Ghiglia at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and a the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel. Lorenzo Micheli is a laureate of several international competitions, including the 1996 TIM Competition in Rome, the "Maria Canals" Competition in Barcelona and the "M. Giuliani" Competition in Bari. In 1999 he was the first Italian to win first prize at the Guitar Foundation of America Competition, a prize which includes a solo recital tour of over 50 cities throughout the United States and Canada. Lorenzo Micheli appears throughout the world as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and with orchestra. Recordings include the soundtrack, composed by Micheli himself, for an Italian TV film "Viaggio verso casa" and a disc of the works of the Spanish composer Dionisio Aguado (1784-1849), using an original nineteenth century guitar.
This recording consists entirely of works by composer MARIO CASTELNUOVO-TEDESCO (1895-1968).
