Santos Hernandez is quickly joining the ranks of Torres and Hauser I in terms of collectibility and historical importance. Santos has been known largely for the Manuel Ramirez guitar which he built in 1912 that was owned and played by Segovia. Many others have played his instruments, including Regino Sainz de la Maza (for whom the Concierto de Aranjuez was written) and the Romero family. This particular guitar, built in 1935, is a gorgeous example of Santos work, with beautiful materials and superb craftsmanship. Tone is warm yet clear, balanced and focused. Players for the past 100 years have valued these instruments for their charming, introspective tone and this instrument is a wonderful example, displaying these qualities beautifully.
