Napolean Coste (1805-1883) composed over fifty works for the guitar. He was France`s most emminent guitarist in the 19th century and heir to the Sor tradition. Most of his works have been neglected for nearly a century and reappear in this edition for the first time. All Coste`s published works for solor guitar are presented, as well as some of his unpublished works and works without opus number. The published works are accurate photographic reproductions of the earliest, sometimes autographed, publications and have not been altered or emended. Urtext settings have been made of unpublished works. Many of Coste`s compostions are highly original, beautiful and often technically demanding; they represent a valuable addition to the repertoire. Each volume has a full introduction prepared and researched by Simon Wynberg.
