1965 Marcelo Barbero (Hijo) SP/CY
|Back & Sides:
The label reads "Marcelo Barbero (Hijo) por casa de Arcangel Fernandez". In 1965, Marcelino Barbero (son of the great Marcelo Barbero) was in his early 20s. This instrument was made by Marcelino in the workshop of Arcangel Fernandez, who was himself a disciple of Marcelo Barbero. It has a wonderful, dark sound with bold basses and strong trebles. It sounds like an old spruce top Miguel Rodriguez (at less than half the price). It has the raspy, open vibrant sound of a great mid-century flamenco. Condition is excellent with one old and very well repaired crack in the top, below the bridge. This is a great example an instrument built in one of the most famous workshops in flamenco history.
