Sergio Perez is one of those luthiers who was literally born into it. His father, Teodoro Perez, made guitars at the Ramirez shop (his guitars are stamped GPM) for 25 years before setting out on his own, and Sergio pretty much grew up in his father's shop, officially joining his father in 1998, at the age of 18. After fourteen years as an apprentice to his father Sergio has begun making his own guitars alongside his father, and we are very pleased to be representing Sergio in the US. Sergio's guitars are exceptional examples of the Madrid school, as expected, and his introductory prices make these guitars an outstanding value. GSI is proud to be representing these guitars exclusively in the United States.
Sergio's "Aranjuez" model is made with beautiful materials all around, including African rosewood for the back and sides. This guitar produces a focused, deep and textured sound that has great dynamics and expression. Like every guitar we have seen from the Perez workshop, the set-up is superb and the attention to detail is impeccable. This is a gorgeous guitar with plenty of power and refinement, and a great choice for concert performance. Back and sides is lacquered, top is French polished - a great combination for an instrument that will be played a great deal. A hardshell case is included with this guitar.
Note: Although now a second-hand guitar (these photos were taken when it was new), it is in excellent condition with only very minor wear in the top, including some compressed shellac in the lower bout where the right arm rests.
