Description

This is a fine Hauser-style instrument built by a very talented young Canadian builder named Kurt Becker, originally working out of British Columbia. The materials are striking - in particular the highly textured, quilted maple for the back a sides, a wood that was a favorite of the older masters in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but is not frequently seen in contemporary instruments. Sonically, it has a precise, focused sound that is a hallmark of this building style, but the "edginess" of the sound is softened, largely by the maple, which adds a warm glow to each note. A great recording and concert instrument for the aspiring student or beginning recitalist.
