Description

Now retired, Brian Dunn built a variety of guitar styles out of his Tucson, Arizona workshop. An early champion of his classical guitars was Tom Patterson, who promoted them to his students at the University of Arizona. This guitar was originally built for Sergio Assad, and so selected his best materials (including a cedar top he'd obtained from Robert Ruck) and incorporated a unique take on the "raised fingerboard" concept by building in a slanted upper bout (starting at the 16th fret) that gives the player better access to the upper registers, especially above the 12th fret. Other than this design element, the guitar is fairly traditional with a 7-fan system, open harmonic bar and Bouchet-style "under-bridge" brace. Workmanship is extremely clean both on the exterior and interior. It has a full, thick tone with excellent balance and clarity. Condition is excellent with only some modest wear in the finish and a small ding behind the bridge at the high e-string. Overall a very solid guitar for the performing guitarist.
