La Cañada Review - Classical Guitar Magazine

News

“There once was a time when guitars made in China were considered inferior offerings by far. Now, La Cañada Model 115 is only the latest to offer a formidable challenge to this old notion. The guitar feels and sounds just like a good instrument should, and has been French polished to boot. While it would make an outstanding choice for the student player, the Model 115 would also make a reliable companion for the professional performer.”

We are happy to share a great review of the La Cañada Model 115 from the Summer 2018 issue of Classical Guitar Magazine. Since first receiving them in our showroom earlier this year, we’ve been singing the praises of these wonderful instruments and we’re glad to see others doing the same.

What makes these guitars so special is that the offer a glimpse into the history of classical guitar building. This particular model is based off of Antonio de Torres’ famous No. 115 which was owned by concert artist Mathilde Ruiz and later by the famous pedagogue Emilio Pujol. Last year, we were lucky enough to have access to the original Torres guitar for a period of time and even recorded it on a CD with George Sakelleriou which will be released at the beginning of September. Having played the original, we all agree that playing the La Cañada Model 115 is about as close as it gets to experiencing the real thing!

In addition to a great write up, the Classical Guitar Magazine review features a performance on the instrument from our good friend Marc Teicholz. Listen below to hear the instrument effortlessly handle a wide variety of musical genres played by Marc.
