This beautiful instrument was made by Guillermo del Pilar who was a well-known Brooklyn, New York builder who was active for the latter half of the twentieth century - his earliest known instruments appear in the 1950s, and he built up until his death in 2000. His materials are gorgeous on this guitar - in particular a very dramatic and beautiful set of CSA rosewood has been used for the back and sides. Workmanship is also excellent and in this instrument he shows great taste in inlay work - the rosette is a beautiful design, contrasting beautifully with the top, and perfectly executed. It is very easy to play and has an impressively powerful, full tone, balanced across all registers. For a 50 year old instrument, condition is pristine - it has been taken care of beautifully its entire life. This is a great value - a lot of guitar for the price.
