Description

This is a lovely, meticulously-made guitar from one of America's most well-known luthiers, Dake Traphagen. It has a smooth, round and balanced classical tone, with a fast response more typical of a Spanish flamenco guitar. It is a very fun guitar to play, and since the bracing pattern follows that of Miguel Rodriguez, it has added punch that will provide plenty of sound for any concert situation. The spruce top gives the tone great color and balance, while at the same time proves fullness in every note without sacrificing clarity between the voices. Although many guitarists today mistakenly believe that cypress is a wood exclusively reserved for flamenco (blancas), some of the great classical instruments from Torres to Romanillos have been made with this tonewood, as is the case with this Traphagen. It's a beautiful material not just to the eye and nose (it has a sweet and very identifable aroma) but to the ear as well, and has been a favorite wood for classicals by many top players including Pepe Romero, who was this instruments first owner! Playability and setup are very comfortable. It is in excellent condition with only some superficial playing wear in the finish.
