Descrizione

The tone of this particular instrument is sweet, beautiful and lyrical while retaining the bite and energy of flamenco: when playing melodically, it sings like a human voice, but also awakens with a tremendous bite when pushed hard. The strong, voice-like trebles are balanced by it’s big low-end that is full but not boomy. As sweet as the tone is, it still has the aggressive response when pushed in the right direction - rasguedos in particular are quite explosive and powerful. Cedar topped Reyes are rarely seen and this is a super one from 1986, perhaps the most popular "period" of his output. Condition is excellent - there is one hairline crack (repaired) on one of the sides, and the guitar was lightly re-finished (no removal of wood) many years ago - since then it has been very well taken care of and as a result has picked up very little wear. This guitar is a true masterpiece, and could easily please the most discriminating player or collector.

Sfondo

Manuel Reyes of Cordoba is considered to be the greatest and most sought-after flamenco builder of the latter half of the twentieth century. He is known for his superb workmanship and is legendary for his authentic Andalusian flamenco sound - he has always constructed his guitars in the heart of the old quarter of Cordoba, in the deep south of Spain. His guitars have been played by dozens of flamenco professionals internationally, perhaps most notably being Vicente Amigo and Paco Serrano.
