Remembering Lawrence Long - Classical Guitarist, Teacher, and Composer.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of a classical guitarist, teacher, and composer, Lawrence Long, who left us on August 21, 2023.

Lawrence lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, and dedicated his entire life to music. His passion for classical guitar led him to become a very highly respected and beloved figure in the classical guitar community. In addition to his solo career, he mentored countless students while simultaneously being a private guitar teacher for over 60 years and a professor of guitar at the University of Tennessee. He was also well-known as a composer of many beautiful pieces for the classical guitar.

As we mourn the loss of this great musician, we must also share the beautiful recordings of his music recorded in our showroom by Lawrence's good friend, George Sakellariou. All of Lawrence Long's pieces recorded by George at GSI are going to be released on a vinyl record titled "Winding Road". The album will be exclusively dedicated to Lawrence Long's music.
