The guitar has been used to concertize in the Salt Lake area by Gabino Flores.
Beautiful guitar from the original shop on Cuchilleros during the era of Paulino Bernabe Sr. Big robust Spanish sound as expected from a Bernabe guitar. This is a concert level guitar. Top of the Bernabe model line. The guitar is in great shape for a 25 year old guitar. Very light and always kept in a humidified case. Easy to play and an exciting Spanish sound. Basses sound beautiful and the treble really sing. Very well balanced. Great guitar.
Paulino Bernabé Sr. 1932 – 2007 is considered to be among the rare elite classical guitar makers. Paulino studied with Daniel Fortea, a pupil of Francisco Tárrega. He soon took an interest in lutherie. In 1954, young Paulino became an apprentice guitar maker and head artisan in the famous José Ramirez workshop. In 1969 he left Ramirez to establish his own workshop on Cuchilleros in Madrid. Even though he was deeply rooted in the old Madrid school of guitar making, he was a great innovator. He has developed his own strutting system and construction methods that allowed his guitars to have a unique sound. His son, Paulino Bernabé II, continues the tradition of Bernabé guitar making. Under the careful watch of his father, he learned the Bernabé guitar making techniques. He worked together with his father for 30 years. Nowadays, after the passing of his father he continues the family tradition guitar making at the workshop, which he moved in 2007 to Fontaneria 10, in Madrid.
