GSI Foundation Scholarship recipient, Tomasz Fechner, becomes USC’s Outstanding Graduate!

We’ve received some great news today. One of the recipients of the 2019-2020 GSI Foundation Classical Guitar Scholarship has become the Outstanding Graduate of USC Thornton School of Music and is going to officially receive his doctorate diploma next month. The Classical Guitar Department at USC is one of the most prestigious in the country thanks to phenomenal professors such as: Pepe Romero, William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant and Brian Head, as well as great students and alumni many of whom have successful international careers as guitarists. 

Tomasz Fechner has received many international prizes and since coming to the U.S. for the first time in 2014 as a Fulbright Scholar, he has recorded over 27(!) GSI videos, including a full set of “Twelve Etudes” by Heitor Villa-Lobos just in one sitting!

Over the years, Tomasz has been volunteering above and beyond in USC’s outreach activities. He’s also been involved in the USC Graduate Student Government as a senator and as a member of their executive board. Since 2016 he has represented over 400 USC students as the President of the Graduate Association of Music Students.
