2023 Lucas Martin #100 Spruce Maple

Condition:Excellent
Category:Classical Guitars
Description
Amazing Granada guitar! It was $8000 new from GSI. Lucas Martin 20th Anniversary Classical Concert Guitar (#100) 650/52 This very special instrument is Lucas Martin’s 20th Anniversary guitar. It also represents a milestone in his career as his 100th build. As such, it employs his most special woods. The top is master-grade German Spruce which is perfectly quartered and shows considerable medullary rays, and the back is book-matched Maple of the most sublime figure. Elegant, handmade Fustero tuners with mother-of-pearl buttons. Abalone inlaid tieblock. Exquisite and colorful handmade rosette. Perfect French polish finish. Only slight signs of wear under strings (see closeup) because it’s a French polish. Otherwise, perfectly mint and fresh smelling! Lucas Martin (born 1984) is the son of the famed Granada luthier Bernd Martin (1954-2018) and the Gypsy Flamenco singer and dancer Matilde Gómez Romero (aka “La Mati”). Bernd Martin, from Germany, was the first foreign-born guitar maker in Granada, having arrived in 1975. He learned the luthier craft from José López Bellido (1943-2024), who was a son-in-law of Eduardo Ferrer (1905-1988). Eduardo was a nephew of Benito Ferrer (1845-1925), who established the renowned Casa Ferrer in Granada and who sold Andres Segovia his first guitar. At a very young age Lucas was attracted to the work of his father and in 2002/2003 he built his first guitar under his tutelage while still in high school. After completing his university degree in electronic engineering, he joined his father’s workshop in the Sacromonte in Granada in 2006. He’s been building full-time since then. The sound of this guitar is at once mysterious, thundering, and clear. The trebles are delicate and soulful. The sound seems to go from the strings to fill the body of the guitar first and then emanate from the sound hole. It’s almost as if it has a built-in reverb-like delay. It is cavernous, with flamenco-like echoes of the Roma caves. The sustain is lengthy but sweet and deep. It is majestic. Overall, it produces a very pleasing sound. It is truly a concert-worthy guitar of professional caliber. I love this instrument. It’s certainly the most amazing one I’ve ever played and owned, but I simply cannot justify owning such an expensive instrument. Perhaps you can. The guitar ships in its original, like-new TKL tweed classical case with leather handle and arched top and back (their top-of-the-line model). Ships in GSI shipping box with ample padding. The linked YouTube from GSI is the ACTUAL guitar that is for sale.
