A New Flamenco Blanca from Gao Yi

Chinese luthier Gao Yi is putting the finishing touches on a new flamenco blanca for GSI, a traditional guitar built with a spruce top and cypress back and sides, at a 650mm scale with a 52mm nut.

The design will mostly follow a 2024 Gao Yi SP/CY, the very guitar that took First Prize at the VII Antonio Marín Montero Guitar Making Competition in Granada, Spain. Expect the same clean, classic Granada-school lines that made that instrument a standout.

The woodworking is complete and Gao Yi is now applying the traditional French shellac finish. Delivery to GSI is expected within about a montth. Stay tuned! In the meantime, check out the sneak peek photos below.
