GSI Releases New Videos of Jan Depreter from His Recording Session at GSI in 2017.

News

We’ve recently published some new videos of a Belgian guitarist, Jan Depreter. He visited our showroom in 2017 on the occasion of taking part in the GFA 2017 convention which took place in Fullerton, CA, and recorded 12 videos! However, not all of them were published at once. Now, we can finally say that all compositions recorded by Jan are finally available to the public on the GSI YouTube channel.

Our friend Jan, is a great classical guitarist and composer. The guitar has been his passion since he received his first guitar for Christmas as a small child at the age of five. He graduated from the Leuven Lemmens Institute and the Royal Conservatories of Antwerp and The Hague, where he studied with Zoran Dukic. He also perfected his playing by learning from David Russell and Manuel Barrueco, among others. Jan’s talent has also been recognized at many prestigious guitar competitions that he won in his life, including the 2006 International Concerto Competition Printemps de la Guitare (Belgium), 2005, International Guitar Competition of Antony – Paris (France), 2002, International Guitar Competition of Mottola (Italy), 2001, International Guitar Competition of Zwolle (Netherlands) and 2001 International Guitar Competition of Alhambra (Spain).

During his recording session at GSI, Jan recorded 12 videos on 5 different guitars: “Jongo” by Paulo Bellinati on 1987 Miguel Rodriguez SP/HR, two pieces by Armand Coeck – “Nocturne No. 2” on 1978 Manuel Velazquez CD/IN and “Lamento” on 2016 Bertrand Ligier SP/IN, three of his own compositions – “The Isle of Skye” on 1987 Miguel Rodriguez SP/HR, “Eilean Donan” on 1964 Ignacio Fleta SP/IN, “Moon Princess” on 2015 Zoran Kuvac CD/AR and “Moreliana – Homage to Sergei Rachmaninov” on a 1966 David Rubio SP/CSAR, as well as the full set of “Five Bagatelles” by William Walton on 1964 Ignacio Fleta SP/IN.
