Description

In typical Fleta fashion for this period, this example from 1964 features a spruce soundboard with Indian rosewood back sides. As expected, the sound is incredible - deep and complex with huge dynamic range and balance. It also has a firmness in the fundamental which provides great projection in larger venues. Many players find the slender neck shapes on Fleta from this period to be his easiest to play - and this guitar is no exception - playability is easy on the hands, and can be played comfortably over many hours in a single sitting. The guitar does have some repairs done many years ago by Yuris Zeltins - two bookmatched back cracks, about two inches from the center seam, which are cleated internally. The top has two splices on either side of the fingergoard, which were repaired with great care particularly from a viewing of the underside which shows the original maple lining (a typical trait of Fleta's guitars) which was left intact, preserving the original build and design of Fleta from 1964. All repairs are stable and the guitar is in fine performing condition. Overall, this is a great sounding and playing guitar from Fleta's golden 'spruce' era - players like Segovia and Williams were concertizing and recording on Fleta instruments from this very period, making this sound one of the most beloved and cherished to modern admirers and aficionados of the classical guitar.
