Description

British luthier Simon Ambridge cites Antonio de Torres, the early 20th century Spanish makers and Hermann Hauser 1 as the main sources that inspire his craft. Weaving their design elements with his own ideas, he produces instruments which are traditional in style, lightly built and very responsive. For sound, his goal is real beauty, with evenly focused notes which are at the same time well balanced across the whole musical spectrum. This particular guitar indeed is a perfect example of such an effort - cleanly built, refined in every curve and angle - a true modern classic. Materials are well-selected, the decorative details are very tasteful (including a lovely carving at the top of the head), and it is fitted with Rodgers tuning machines. Sound is smooth and velvety in texture, and for an instrument with a slightly more compact body size, the guitar has surprising volume and a beautiful, lyrical tone.
