Description

The Requinto is 548mm scale and is traditionally tuned to "A" (just like using a capo on a standard-scale guitar at the 5th fret). Mexican groups like "Trio Los Panchos", "Los Dandys", and "Los Tres Ases" are typically credited for popularizing the requinto in the 20th century. The instrument uses normal tension classical guitar strings and is played the same as a standard guitar. Many session recording artists also use requintos on professional recordings when they want to capture a bright clean melody. Because of its much smaller scale it is an attractive instrument for guitarists that wish to have easier reach or a different sound from the typical classical guitar.

This particular requinto is made with German's most precious materials. Made with aged German spruce soundboard and master grade European flamed maple on the back and sides it is German's "Elite" model. It also has a Spanish cedar neck with a hidden fixed reinforcement and African ebony fingerboard. A hand thinned nitrocellulose lacquer finish gives it amazing sustain and volume. The traditional aesthetics include abalone shell inlay on the rosette, fingerboard and headstock and it also comes with specially crafted bindings and purfling.
