Description

Kazuo Sato is a true veteran of the guitar making craft. Born in Tokyo in 1946, he took an apprenticeship in 1965 with luthier Kuniharu Nobe. He later moved to England in 1971 where he built guitars in the David Rubio workshop, stamping his initials "KS" on the internal heel above the label. Since 1974 he has been an independent guitar maker, first setting up in Belgium but ultimately settling in Saarlouis, where he remains to this day.

This model, called the "Prestige" is one of Kazuo's top concert models that he builds. He feels this model provides the strongest projection and color palette of his instruments, largely due to the select materials chosen from his old stock of seasoned European spruce and CSA rosewood, which is aged for a minimum of 20 years. The quality of sound is bold and yet lush. The guitar also boasts a good amount of power, but the strength of the sound does not diminish the lyrical charm and beautiful quality of the tone. This is a used guitar which apart from some minor playing wear in the finish, has no cracks or repairs at all. It's an excellent example from this very fine and experienced luthier.
