Description

An exquisite instrument from Hermann Hauser II, who is considered to be one of the greatest makers of the twentieth century. Visually this is an incredibly beautiful instrument, it has an old, aged top that has a deep, honey/amber quality in the patina and contains generous amounts of bearclaw. Condition is excellent, with no cracks or damage at all and all original elements in place including finish and tuning machines. It is very powerful for a Hauser II of this period, with excellent projection. The fundamental tones are very clear and bell-like with almost perfect separation. Basses are very strong, steady and precise. Overall, the instrument is like a loud and balanced piano, but with the lyrical charm and sweetness of a great, warm and loose Hauser I. The Hauser dynasty, now spanning 5 generations, have produced instruments played by countless concert artists including Andres Segovia, Julian Bream, the Romeros and many others. This is a great sounding, looking, and playing Hauser II, and a dream for either collector or performer.
