Description

A great, well-priced concert guitar by US builder Bob Mattingly, whom many consider to have been southern California's top builder for several decades. This guitar is like a Miguel Rodriguez in appearance and sound. External features like head shape, rosette, plantilla, scale, etc. as well as internal features including Bob's modified 5-fan system (including "floating" brace supporting the central fan), which all point to his reverence to the great Miguel Rodriguez of Cordoba, Spain - with whom Mattingly considered a mentor due to some valuable time he spent in the Rodriguez workshop. Like a great Rodriguez, this guitar has enormous power, rich body resonance and great punch in the attack of every note. It has two, cleated top cracks as well as a crack in the back (upper bout) and a crack in the bass-side rib, all very well repaired and stable. For the price, this is a cannon of a guitar, really does a fantastic job of honoring the great Rodriguez guitars of the 1970s.
