Description

Although born in Sweden, luthier Tobias Berg has followed the craft of guitar making through Canada, England, and the US. He finally settled in Germany where he has been a full-time guitar builder for many years. This guitar is light in weight and is therefore very comfortable and fun to play. It has a beautiful, liquid quality to the tone, and is incredibly balanced. The cedar top adds warmth and openness, while still retaining the great quality of tone found in his spruce counterpart - most notably fantastic clarity. At the same time, it still has a spectacular amount of added richness, derived from the stacked but controlled overtones. His guitars are quickly gaining recognition among professional classical guitarists including Jan Erler of the Heinrich Albert Duo, as well as Humberto De Lucia (winner of the 2011 Alirio Diaz Competition) and Alp Ozan (winner of the 2011 Zuidlaren Guitar Competition). Concert artist Scott Tennant recently purchased one of his instruments as well. Along with a bold and unique appearance, Berg's guitars are very impressive overall, and we are excited to be representing this very promising luthier here at GSI.
