Description

An exquisite instrument from Hermann Hauser II, who is considered to be one of the greatest makers of the twentieth century. It has been played regularly over the course of over 5 decades but was also meticulously cared for - it is in exceptionally well-preserved original condition and is simply a top example of Hauser II's finest handwork. Sound-wise this instrument is a standout. In great Hauser style, the fundamental tones of every note across all registers are very clear and bell-like with almost perfect separation. Basses are strong, steady and precise. Overall, the instrument is like an extremely well-balanced piano, but with the lyrical charm and sweetness of a great, warm and loose Hauser I. The old, aged top has a deep, honey/amber color in the patina, contributing to the enhancement of the sound thanks to the thicker, crystallized resin in the grain. The Hauser dynasty, now spanning 5 generations, have produced instruments played by countless concert artists including Andres Segovia, Julian Bream, the Romeros and many others. This is a near perfect example of the archetypal Hauser II for sound, appearance, and playability - a dream for either collector or performer.
