1968 Ignacio Fleta CD/IN

This instrument from 1968 was built during Fleta's great cedar period. The sound is absolutely magical, powerful and rich. It has unusually good separation of voices even when playing chordal passages. Balance is perfect, and it has a haunting, mysterious and dark sound, with substantial power. One of its most remarkable characteristics is its superb sustain in virtually every register. It is apparent when playing or listening to this instrument that Fleta had a deep background in stringed instrument building. His early years from 1928-1955 were spent primarily building instruments from the violin family and certain Fletas have a rich, textured and deep resonance that is more associated with violas or even cellos - this one has this quality in grand style. The condition of the guitar is great - when we received the guitar it was in completely original condition however a large area of the finish had been worn off the soundboard, leaving some wood exposed, so we had Pat Quinn in San Diego do a fantastic re-finish to the top. The rest of the guitar still has all original finish and it has no cracks or repairs. It is in exceptional playing condition - ready for recording studio or concert stage. This is certainly a fine example from one of the greatest luthiers of 20th century. A very desirable instrument for both collector and performer.
