California-based luthier Richard Prenkert has been building guitars since 1979. However he has been playing the guitar much longer, and still actively performs. His previous teachers include George Sakellariou, Philip Rosheger and Richard Stover. So his instruments are truly guitars built by for players by a player. Players of the Prenkert guitar include Carlos Barbosa-Lima, David Grimes, and Richard Stover.
This particular guitar is a very bold sounding, powerful instrument with very clear separation between voices even for a cedar and would make a great performing guitar. It's fitted with industrial-strength Gilbert tuning machines and was built with a 20th fret to accommodate repertoire requiring a high C natural. Although used, it is in excellent condition with only very minor wear in the finish.
